Proud Daughter....

I wanted to share some fun news for those who like to peruse the pages of home decorating magazines! My parents' colonial home was chosen as one of Country Sampler's favorites and is featured in their current HOME TOUR EDITION! Back in the spring of 2005, Country Sampler published a nice article showcasing my mother's folk art and her primitive decor in their home in Washington state. And to our surprise, they have featured it once again! I will post a few teaser images below, but do go get a copy if you'd like to read more and see other photos of her unique, period-style decorating. Yes, clearly my inspiration to design, decorate and create with my hands has been passed down from my creative mother :) Congrats to you Mom!

Love,
~ Johanna

* Look for this cover at the stores.....

* The article opens with this inviting photo of their dining room, one of my favorite rooms in their house.... CLICK to enlarge...

* A snapshot of their upstairs bedroom, laden with blue & cream ticking and other woven textiles... CLICK to enlarge...

* A warmly lit vignette including a patriotic pair of my retired designs produced by Primitives by Kathy...

* Instructions on how to make my mom's German style sheep..... Baaaaaa

By the way, my friends
“photographer/stylist/writer” duo Donna Pizzi and Philip Clayton-Thompson of Blackstone Edge Studios did my mom's photo shoot! Their photography also made the cover of this issue. (The two of them also photographed my home in 2005 for Cottage Style magazine)

~ The full article is 8 pages long and features other intriguing rooms, including their kitchen, keeping room, living room, laundry and master bath....Go get a copy! :-)

Hi Johanna, your mother's home is beautiful & I can see who inspired you. What's the date of this Country Sampler's HOME TOUR EDITION? So I can send my hubby out for the right edtion at his favorite magazine stand/store...

You're an inspiration, not just because you're talented & beautiful but because you understand the art of promotion.

I really appreciate all your great comments on my Blog because 'Lady Lyndy' is a promotional tool for my art book(s). Everything I can think of to help bring readers is another potential Halloween Black Cat art collector. So I'm glad you get it.

I think Chris did a fabulous artist rendition of a mystical 'Lady Lyndy'. The psychic that predicts a spooktacular future for all those lover's of black cat OOAK art work.

I'm very LUCKY (especially since St. Patty's Day was also my birthday) to have another Johanna Original. My precious adorable Hallowgreen Black Cat. I can't wait for him to meet his brothers & sisters of the magickal black cat Johanna Parker Design circle.

Have A Joyous Spring Filled With Bountiful Blessings, Lyndy

Johanna, I definetly see where you get some of your talents. Your Mom has a wonderful eye for decorating. It was bound to happen, you being creative as well. I would be so proud as well. But I am sure she is as equally proud of you in all your creative adventures.

You and your mom are both such creative women!

Kim

Thank you all for your kind remarks! Yes, I have definitely been inspired by the creativity that my mom has always shared with me..... It's been an artistic adventure :)

Lyndy and for others who are looking for this particular issue, the magazine is marked "Special Issue 2008" with a "Home Tour Edition" heading..... There's no particular month listed, but I know it just recently came out.... So, hopefully you can find it!
(PS.... I look forward to the debut of your Black Cat Art Collectors' Book!!! Let us know when it's ready...)

Thanks again for stopping by...

Hi Johanna. I loved seeing the photos of your mom's house. I hope I can find the magazine here in DE., for sure I will look for it. Now I have to write to her and see how she is. I am so sorry to hear about Pepper. Seems he was a sweetheart of a cat.

Carole..... Yes, Pepper was my teenagehood black cat and most likely inspired me in my younger years to start painting black cat subject matter..... He was a sweetie... I know that he did have a fulfilling life (at 24 lbs!!) and was quite spoiled by my parents :)

Thanks for stopping by!
