Help My Head.....

Well, now that I've captured your attention with that most bizarre photo, (courtesy Apple Photo Booth on my Mac) I am looking for headache remedies.... For the last 3 days, I've awoken to a pounding migraine that seems to be on the move. It's as if the little characters of whimsy that live in my mind are parading around my head and getting a bit too rowdy... OUCH! I've noticed that if I tiptoe about the house, the pounding is less severe, but don't ask me to bend down, as standing up can be a real stinger, not to mention sneezing or any other pressure related activities......

I just tried dunking my feet in hot water while putting an ice pack on my head, but my impatience got the better of me, so I took a shower instead..... I did get a chuckle when Jack my cat walked in and saw my odd-looking head gear... he he.....

So, if you have a home remedy, I'm all ears. I have so much to do, but this on-going migraine is getting in my way, and I need relief...... HELP if you pleeeeeeeeease....

I take some motrin and sleep. Ususally, I'll have a heating pad (mine usually come with ear aches/sinus preassure) going as well. Mine are from allergies. If you don't have allergies, I might look into massage on the temples/scalp. Tiger balm on the temples feels good too.

The main thing, reduce stress (could even be noise). My friend gets really bad migraines (for years) and the main thing is reduce stress, sleep and take vitamins.

Also, make sure to have your eyes tested often. I did get some nasty migraines before I got my glasses! Phew, those were bad...

I hope you feel better really soon...I had a minor one today (from being around dust) and felt just like you did (could not bend over without severe pain). If it is allergies, nasal flushing does help me too.

Take care! :)

Thanks Emily for all the tips!
I've never tried tiger ball or motrin, so I'll give them a try :)

I'm a little better today and hope that continues....

Thanks again!

Hi Johanna, first NEVER EVER take Motrin. It's already on the list of class action lawsuits for destroying the liver & kidneys. Several adults & children have already died from heart failure from using this toxic over the counter drug. Motrin was by prescription only, then years ago the FDA deregulated it. Motrin is really Ibuprofen which is extremely toxic.

Children's MOTRIN & ADVIL can cause Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis & Death.

If you have to take an OTC drug try: Excedrin Extra Strength. Take two with ice water & add a little squeeze of lemon in the ice water.

My Mother's remedy was an ice water soaked wash cloth, squeeze out excess water & folded like a bandana around the neck firmly. Usually takes the pain away in about 30 to 45 minutes. Works every time! Also keep your bowels cleared... Sounds funny, but constipation will cause migraine headaches.

Love, your photo... WHERE ON THE MAC is that special effect???

HUGS & XOXOs, Lyndy

Lyndy, the action lawsuit is for Children's motrin (which I have never had, nor have ever given my children).

Also, I have heard no reports of this on the news besides this comment from you. Where did you find your info?

Hmmm, guess I'll have to do more research about Motrin..... you never know what kind of side effects these drugs may cause..... I do take Excedrin, but it doesn't always work for me... My migraine resurfaced last night, but today's it's gone for the moment......

Lyndy.... My Mac is pretty new, and it has a camera eye that you can turn on and use in a program called Photo Booth...It's a hoot! You can set it on all sorts of goofy, tweaked settings that distort your image... If I need a good laugh, I turn it on!

Debra... thanks for the tips and the sweet words regarding my work :) You know I love your folk art too!

I don't know of any remedies except the ones already mentioned, but do know from the experience of a friend of mine, if you are experiencing "the worst headache of your life", get to the Dr. and/or hospital and insist on more testing (CAT scan, MRI, etc). In most cases it IS just a migraine, but a good friend of mine was misdiagnosed under that assumption for months, and it turned out to be a ruptured blood vessel. Better safe.....

Sending {{{hugs}}} and prayers you'll feel better soon!

I don't have any home remedies....but I do highly recommend Excedrin Migraine or any Excedrin, really. I struggle with migraines and excedrin is the only thing that helps me. Just don't take it before bed....it's got caffeine in it so you might not be able to fall asleep!

But, it's definitely what I rely on when I feel an attack coming on and bed is just not an option. I hope you feel better!

Emily, Motrin & Advil are both under investigation & lawsuits pending for both adults as well as children. Just Google Motrin Lawsuit or Litigation. You'll find them hidden in the search engines.

Just be careful with those drugs. Actually I would stop taking them all together to play it safe. The news here in CA also stated that men should not take either of those drugs due to related heart palpitations.

I personally never take any kind of medication because of the horrendous side effects. Only Excedrin when needed.

Johanna, I'm very glad your feeling better too! And thanks for the Mac Info! Sounds like super fun...

Best Wishes, Lyndy

Thanks, Lyndy! I looked up Motrin and side effects. I may try Excederin...my sis swears by it too (and she's got allergies as well). But I have to be careful just because Motrin has always worked for me...

Johanna, Tiger balm is very good and has a calming smell. Glad you're feeling better! :)
